The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia efforts to provide rurally-based training for medical students have been formally recognised in various ways and through various awards.
The School was honoured in the 2008 Premier's Awards for Excellence in Public Sector Management - twice.
It was one of three finalists in two categories: "Creating Jobs and Economic Prosperity" and "Strengthening Regional Western Australia" and was judged the winner of the former.
The RCSWA program is very highly regarded nationally and in 2007 was awarded a prestigious Carrick Award predominantly for curriculum innovation. The national awards aim to recognise individuals and teams who enhance the standard of student learning in Australian universities.
The School's rural-specific clinical learning program 'model' is now ttracting international attention.
